<back Plastic Rocker high-res images Plastic Rocker We designed the rocking chair as an entry into a rocking chair design competition by DesignBoom. The competition was simply to design a rocking chair. Maaike and I thought that rocking chairs are really nice to sit in but not very many people own them or can even afford them. Our goal was to bring rocking to the masses. The most ubiquitous chair in the world, as you know, is the molded plastic chair, so we decided to do a rocking version of that chair. We wanted to make it look as typical as possible without any extra features except for the rocking base. For the rest of the chair, we looked at many photographs of white plastic chairs and we created the typical chair, then designed the rocking base around it.
